Europlasma announces it will support Iberdrola and Belgoprocess in the treatment and conditioning of radioactive waste processing facility contract in Bulgaria.
Iberdrola Ingeniería y Construcción S.A.U and Belgoprocess L.L.C. have been awarded a contract by Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant, Plc. (KNPP) to supply a facility for the treatment and conditioning of solid radioactive waste with high volume reduction factor at the Kozloduy nuclear power plant in Bulgaria. The contract is valued at €29.9 million ($38.5 million) and is co-financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (BERD) and the Bulgarian government.
Iberdrola Ingeniería y Construcción as leader of the Consortium together with Belgoprocess are responsible for the facility’s design, manufacturing, installation and commissioning, and will support the Client during the licensing process.
Europlasma, a global leader in clean technology and clean energy, will provide its state-of-the-art plasma technology to reduce and immobilise the radwaste. The contract, valued at €6.5 million over 4 years, is a first step in the deployment of the Group's business strategy in the international nuclear waste management marketplace.
“This contract validates both our plasma technological leadership and the relevance of our business strategy in the international low level nuclear waste management market segment”, says Cedric Berard, CFO of Europlasma group. “We look forward to working side by side with Belgoprocess and Iberdrola to bring this exciting project to successful completion”, says Didier Pineau, Chairman and CEO of Europlasma group.
