(BW) Fujitsu Extends TRIOLE Strategy for IT
Optimization to Global Market; Platform-Integration Expertise to Be
Shared Worldwide

Business Editors/High-Tech Writers

TOKYO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 25, 2004--Fujitsu Limited today
announced the global expansion of its TRIOLE(TM) strategy for the
optimized design, development and deployment of highly reliable and
adaptive business-critical IT infrastructure in heterogeneous
environments. Fujitsu group companies and affiliates in EMEA, North
America and Asia-Pacific will introduce innovative products, solutions
and services based on the TRIOLE strategy to enterprise customers in
those regions, enabling them to significantly increase business
efficiency, agility and continuity.

TRIOLE, which Fujitsu first introduced and has been developing in
Japan, is based on real-life customer experiences and three core
technological areas in which it has leading-edge expertise:
integration, virtualization and automation. Virtualization separates
applications and data from dedicated systems; automation refers to the
autonomic self-healing and adaptation of IT infrastructure to meet
changing business needs; and integration is the fast, low-cost and
low-risk implementation of those technologies across the full IT
infrastructure spectrum, including server, storage, network and
middleware elements. Fujitsu has applied these core concepts to
develop pre-verified templates, called Platform-integration Templates
(or Pi Templates) that serve as functional building blocks to speed
the construction of highly reliable open-system installations.

Now, as part of the worldwide rollout of TRIOLE, Fujitsu's
overseas group companies and affiliates will utilize these Pi
Templates and convert the expertise and insights gained from their IT
systems work into new Pi Templates, enabling that expertise to be
shared and employed throughout the organization. Toward this end,
Fujitsu will this year establish Pi Centers - where the templates will
be developed, tested and verified - in overseas locations to
complement and work closely with its Pi Center in Numazu, Japan, which
began operations in June 2003.

"These moves will enable us to leverage our comprehensive
platform-integration expertise across all major regional markets,"
said Genichi Mitsuhama, general manager of Fujitsu Limited's TRIOLE
Business Development Division. "Mobilizing Fujitsu's global resources
around TRIOLE will help our customers optimize their IT
infrastructures in ways that will accelerate responsiveness to market
changes and meet the most pressing management challenges."

"A major advantage of the TRIOLE strategy is that Fujitsu bears
the cost of Quality Assurance (QA)," said Vernon Turner, group vice
president for IDC. "Removing QA costs and complexity off the customer
floor significantly reduces risk for customers and allows them to
implement stable and reliable systems via a shared knowledge base."

Since June 2003, when Fujitsu introduced a series of major
enhancements to its TRIOLE strategy and launched its Pi Template
activities in Japan, it has undertaken various initiatives aimed at
strengthening and giving concrete shape to the strategy. These have
included:

Core Product Enhancements

Fujitsu has added autonomic control and service-oriented
integration features to its flagship Systemwalker and Interstage
software products, developed the new IPCOM S Series of network
controllers that provide optimized networking environments for IT
systems, and enhanced the speed, capacity and reliability of its
servers and storage system products.

Platform-Integration Initiatives

Fujitsu has continued the development and application of Pi
Templates in customers' IT systems. As a result of these efforts, the
company has now generated 27 basic templates and 33 combination
templates whose reliability and interoperability characteristics have
been verified. In the second half of FY 2003, Pi Templates were
applied in approximately 40% of Fujitsu's systems development jobs in
Japan (including both planned applications and new proposals based on
insights from the templates), primarily for large-scale systems.

Building on this base, Fujitsu will give further momentum to
TRIOLE through the global expansion of the strategy in concert with
continuing efforts to enhance TRIOLE-based technologies, solutions and
services in Japan. Fujitsu's overseas group companies and affiliates
will separately be announcing details regarding their TRIOLE-related
activities and offerings. For further information on these
