Dow Jones Celebrates International Women’s Day, Recognizes Female Executives of the Past Decade (AcT)

HONG KONG, March 8, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- To mark International Women's Day, Dow Jones celebrates the evolution of women in business, charting some of the most talked-about female executives of the past decade in a multi-media package using video and infographic.

The data is powered by Factiva, Dow Jones' flagship research and intelligence tool and the world's single most important collection of news. The company has mapped media mentions of 20 of the world's top female executives over the past ten years from 2003 to 2013. Almost half of those recognized originate from countries outside the U.S., including the U.K., India, Canada, France, Singapore, Australia, and Israel, demonstrating the global footprint of the decade's top women in business.

"Dow Jones is delighted to recognize the women who have championed the unchartered and overcome the impossible. These global leaders have helped pave the way for the next generation of female executives to shape the business world of tomorrow," said Lex Fenwick, chief executive officer of Dow Jones and publisher of The Wall Street Journal. "The composition of our leadership at Dow Jones speaks volumes about our own company – nearly half of our senior executives across the globe are women, something we are incredibly proud of. It serves as a testament to the value we place on female leadership and its importance to the success of industries worldwide."

Appearing in the Factiva video and infographic are some of the following women of influence:

Dow Jones' list of female executives is ranked according to the number of mentions received in some of the world's leading publications, including The Wall Street Journal, Barron's, Reuters, The Times of India, The Globe and Mail, The Times (U.K.), The Australian, and People's Daily (China). Results spanned the decade between January 1, 2003 and January 1, 2013.
