Major success for Aéroports de Paris Group
The full commissioning this summer of Doha's Hamad International Airport marks another major success for Aéroports de Paris Group and especially for its wholly-owned subsidiary, ADP Ingénierie (ADPI). These one was deeply involved in this important project alongside TAV Construction (49%-owned by Aéroports de Paris), who were in charge of a large part of the construction. All of them have worked on behalf of their client: the New Doha International Airport Steering Committee.
Covering 22 sqm with an airport city, this airport has two runways, including one of the longest commercial runways in the world (measuring 4,850 meters). It is destined to become the world hub for Qatar Airways, the national airline. It will also enable Doha to be an important aviation hub in the Arabian Gulf.
According to Guillaume Sauvé, Chairman and CEO of ADP Ingénierie:
"The new Doha airport is three times bigger than the old one and has capacity to handle 30 million passengers. This could eventually increase to 50 million passengers a year in its final build out. On this site, the teams of ADP Ingénierie have done a remarkable job and demonstrate the extent of their expertise in design building some of which are unique."
More than 400,000 sqm of building designed by ADPI's architects and engineers
ADP Ingénierie (ADPI) has been in Qatar since 2004. It was entrusted with the studies, master plan and architectural design of around forty buildings (control tower, cargo terminal, aircraft maintenance centre, Emiri Terminal, control and training center for Qatar Aviation Authority, administrative buildings, etc.): i.e. the equivalent of a total surface area greater than 400,000 sqm. ADPI also assisted Bechtel Group during the site supervision bid phases and contributed to completely reorganising Qatar's air space, which handles almost 360,000 aircraft movements per year.
Futhermore, ADPI support Bechtel Group during the phase of construction, supervision and managed the resizing of the Qatari airspace, which welcome about 360.000 aircraft movements per year.

Among the most iconic building designed by architects and engineers of ADPI:
§ Maintenance Center of Qatar Airways: comprise 150.000 sqm in two halls and a building logistic support, this center can accommodate up to 13 planes at the same time;
§ Air Traffic control tower: 85 meters high, it is distinguished by its body-shaped extruded triangle which lights up at night with an LED system and reveals a crescent moon;
§ Emiri terminal: this monumental pyramid of 16.000 sqm, whose arab-islamicarchitecture is characterized by a succession of curved sails and glass facades, is for the use of the Emir of Qatar and members of the Royal family, Ministers, Heads of states and visiting dignitaries. The building, finishes extremely neat, parks up to 7 aircraft and operates as a full-fledged passenger terminal.
