( BW)(CA-POPULAR-TELEPHONY) PeerioBiz Serverless VoIP Softphone is Deployed for a First Field Trial

Business Editors/High-Tech Writers

SOPHIA ANTIPOLIS, France & SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 7, 2005--Popular Telephony, a pioneer of serverless technology, and MOBIBASE, today announced a technical trial of the PeerioBiz serverless peer-to-peer IP softphone for business LAN (Local Area Network) telephony.

MOBIBASE, a multi-site enterprise, has installed PeerioBiz softphones in four satellite offices including Paris, London, an agency located in the United States and a second agency in France.

PeerioBiz provides enterprises benefits in a number of areas by enhancing the user experience and optimising performance through improved efficiencies and reduced system demands.

Based on the award-winning patents-pending Peerio middleware, PeerioBiz is a next generation intelligent voice application for computer terminals, delivering seamless voice services to the enterprise without the use of any centralized node (e.g., PBX, control center or server).

Conceived by Popular Telephony to be flexible, scaleable and redundant, PeerioBiz's serverless softphone trial version currently supports up to 25 basic telephony features, replicating the commonly found functionality of a software based IP PBX.

The full licensed version of PeerioBiz today supports up to 200 telephony features, with the intention of reaching up to 750 in the future.

By leveraging the Peerio serverless technology comprised of PeerioBiz softphones, Peerio GNUP (a serverless global numbering plan) and a Peerio-enabled media gateway, MOBIBASE does not need to own or maintain an IP PBX.

As a multi-location enterprise, MOBIBASE will greatly benefit from the Peerio system's serverless operability

MOBIBASE will receive all the benefits of enterprise VoIP, while saving up to 80% on multi-site system costs, as well as obtaining transparent installation and eliminating any additional infrastructure modification or investment.

PeerioBiz, as with any other Peerio-based product, is an infrastructure-agnostic solution operating on top of industry-standard protocols (SIP, H.323) and voice processing layers.

As a result, PeerioBiz fully fits into a basic enterprise communications environment, not requiring complex alterations.

MOBIBASE is currently completing testing of PeerioBiz software within its offices and will later expand it to a full trial enterprise wide of the GNUP interconnect.

The final trial phase will involve an enterprise PSTN interconnect via Digitrad, a Peerio partner and next generation international service provider, based in France.

MOBIBASE will then evaluate further deployment based upon results of the trial.

"We're excited to trial the Peerio serverless approach because this is the first solution to date which has meet all the high-standards for advanced business communications.

It is an innovative telephony system offering a seamless user experience.

It provides us all of the necessary PBX functionality, with redundancy, security and a scaleable architecture.

PeerioBiz fits perfectly with our multi-site needs while providing an enormous immediate savings on system purchase and by reducing ongoing maintenance costs," said Laurent Sarver, the co-founder of MOBIBASE.

"The beta testing is currently in progress and to date we've been more than satisfied with the results.

We continue to work closely with Popular Telephony, providing the necessary feedback during the trial phase."

"Peerio's serverless foundation changes for the better the way enterprises operate and communicate, much like the way mainframes and server/client models have done in the past," said Sandra Mandine, the Director of European Marketing at Popular Telephony.

"Peerio-based software and hardware terminals offer customers a complete system and provide the enterprise market with full and complete control over their communications."
