AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct 20, 2004-- Maryland Facility Enables Enhanced 24/7 Management and Control of Media Services Network for an Expanding Portfolio of Services. Broadwing Communications, LLC, a consolidated subsidiary of Broadwing Corporation (NASDAQ:BWNG), today announced that it has completed construction and turn-up of its Television Operations Center (TOC) in Columbia, Maryland.
The TOC provides Broadwing with enhanced network management and control capabilities for its Media Services Network, which was launched earlier this year specifically to serve the multi-service needs of the broadcast television and media markets.
Using the latest in broadcast measurement and telecom management technology, TOC personnel can perform traditional network view management and alarming functions with the enhanced ability to test and analyze a wide range of video, audio and data devices connected to the network.

"Broadwing's unique carrier grade facility is designed to manage multiple media formats including high definition television compressed via MPEG 2 inside ASI and other high definition compression formats via Serial Digital Interface (SDI).
In addition, standard definition is compressed via MPEG 2 and MPEG 4 inside ASI.
Uncompressed standard definition is transported as native SDI."
