(TSX:MNY) announced today the widespread availability of its new
SedNet(TM) 1394a&b VME Board. The increasing complexity and production
volumes of IEEE-1394 devices and systems have prompted the need for
better and faster testing solutions, as well as improved IEEE-1394
network analysis and simulation tools. Mindready has answered the call
with the introduction of the SedNet(TM) IEEE-1394 VME Board compliant
with the a and b versions of this popular serial bus.
Targeting aerospace, automotive, defense and industrial markets,
typical applications for this FireWire(R) VME Board include
high-throughput parallel testing of multiple devices and complex
simulation of multi-node networks. Owing to its flexible design, the
SedNet(TM) 1394 VME Board can also be used as a 1394 bus snooper /
exerciser.
Using FPGA-assisted IEEE-1394 communications and distributed
processing to achieve time deterministic and high-throughput IEEE-1394
communications, the single-slot VME board is scalable from two to six
independent IEEE-1394 nodes, each controlled by a script-like
user-defined program to handle an extensive range of user
applications. Scalability is achieved by means of a dual-node
baseboard on which two optional mezzanines can be added for a total of
18 IEEE-1394 ports on six independent nodes, all in a single VME slot.
Configuring the VME Board is performed via either the VME bus or a
seventh IEEE-1394 node, referred to as the 1394b Control Port. Using a
versatile scripting language, the user can program the VME board's six
nodes independently to perform a variety of IEEE-1394 related actions.
Furthermore, the board's highly-advanced bus snooping and
packet-filtering abilities enable programming highly-complex IEEE-1394
communication schemes for simulation applications or data capture.
In addition to commented sample application code and comprehensive
documentation, an optional National Instrument TestStand(TM) test
executive will jumpstart integrating the VME Board in National
Instruments environments.
With its high node count versus volume, high-performance
FPGA-assisted IEEE-1394 communications and versatile scripting
interface, the SedNet(TM) 1394 VME Board satisfies even the most
demanding and complex testing and simulation requirements.
